3D animation is what you use when reality will not cooperate: the component is inside a sealed housing, the process happens at a scale no lens reaches, or the product is still a drawing. We model, animate and render to a photorealistic standard, with full control of camera, light and material — the exploded view that shows how a mechanism works, the cutaway that explains a process, the product film shot before the first unit is built. It is frequently the cheaper option as well as the only one, because a virtual set costs nothing to rebuild and the same assets carry into your catalogue and website.
You can show the inside of a machine, a process that happens in a sealed chamber, or a product that has not been manufactured yet — none of which a camera can do at any price. 3D sells the thing before the thing exists.
